variegated rue

I grew some variegated rue from seed a few years ago, but it lost its variegation after the first season. Now it has suddenly returned. There seems to be no difference in sunlight or soil. Anyonme else have a similar experience?

RE: variegated rue

andy, I haven't grown the variegated rue, but I did some reading and found other people mentioned the same thing. The variegation goes away and returns the next season. There are different causes of variegation in plants. If the variegation is transmitted through the seed it's probably caused by a virus. That might explain why it fades and then comes back strong again?

Thanks for that, Jamus. It certainly sounds the most probable reason.
