| If you're considering injesting them or extracts thereof, both plants are extremely poisonous and have been known to cause hospitalisation and even fatalities. Not recommended. |

Which datura species? A couple of the better known ones are Datura inoxia (Devil's Weed), Datura strammonium (Jimson Weed or Thornapple) and the best known of all Datura brugmansia (Angel's Trumpet) which has recently been reclassified to the genus Brugmansia and is often available at nurseries. There are many more. As for morning glory there are many plants with this name though most I think belong to the family Convolvulaceae. In short, you'll have to be more specific. |

| I have seed of Datura stramonium and Datura inoxia. We have a large brugmansia in our garden as well as common morning glory, (Ipomoea violacea probably) which grows as a weed covering our chicken run. I read some statistics recently which quoted the white Brugmansia (angels trumpet) to be the most dangerous plant in Australia in terms of deaths per year. Mostly due to the fact that stupid kids cook it up and drink it. |

| i can get Datura metel or D. stramonium seed. the D. metel is a particularly vigorous grower and is very beautiful, it makes an excellent windbreak for more delicate plants. i got the seed off an old chinese lady who was using them to protect her roses, she got the seed about 20 years ago from a friend in africa. i nearly fell over when she told me the story. only too happy to spread the love. check local AG dept regulations in your area concerning this plant, its probably a declared plant. i have not taken this substance myself, it frightens me. i have yet to cultivate a sufficiently strong enough relationship with the plant and have yet to find someone experienced enough to guide my journey. DO NOT take this beast lightly, IT IS NOT A TOY |

| Datura stramonium and Datura ferox are both very common weeds in southern Queensland. The seed has an extremely long viability. In Toowoomba, virtually any disturbance to the ground will bring it up. I have seen it germinate in recently disturbed areas that had been lawns for well over twenty years. If you are going to grow it, I suggest removing the seed pods and disposing of them very thoughtfully. They do deserve a place in herb collector's gardens, but are generally too smelly and poisonous for most people to concern themselves with. Clearly not the sort of plant you would want to sell at the local Sunday Markets! |

| How do youhave a relationship with a plant? Sounds kinky to me. It's poisonous, it screws up your normal brain activity somehow and makes you sick. Who'd want to do that? A lot of people confuse being poisoned with having fun, which is very odd. |

These plants are sometimes grown in gardens in Europe just for the showy flowers. The seeds are available on many foreign seed catalogues. Some people who like herbs simply grow them just for the sake of having them in their collection. Just because you grow a plant does not mean you want to eat it. Admittedly RockyGuy does not say why he/she wants to grow it. It's not the sort of plant I would bother growing. I still have bad memories of chopping and spraying out thousands of these "Triffids" years ago when I was on a farm. The vile, offensive smell that rose up from the cut stems and leaves was enough to turn me off the very sight of Datura forever! |
