I read the messages about comfrey not growing. Can someone please tell me where to buy comfrey root so I can get started. Have tried seeds but was not successful with them.

Gee bikiegirl, I have given so much away, I reckon its getting lean, but I'm sure some stray roots will produce in spring. Let me have your email address and I will try and get you some.
Cheers sooze.

You do see it occassionally in nurseries or garden centres, so keep an eye out. Green Harvest do root cuttings, go to www.greenharvest.com.au I believe you can order online, and they do a catalogue.

I missed this post before bikiegirl... did you get some comfrey? I could take a machette and maybe a couple of SAS soldiers and dig some roots from mine if you still need some... let me know if you are still after some

RE: Comfrey

Its baaaack....

Just when I thought it was safe to venture out in the garden,...Just when you turn your back...It comes out again...Yes, My Comfrey has come out of it dormancy.

Actually I am really happy, as I thought I had killed it...SILLY ME!!!
And what a great plant for indication of seasonal change, I first noticed tiny little leaves amongst the mass of brown dead stem and leaf about August 1st and since then has really come on.

Thanks Sooze for your generosity again in sending me a piece of root, that piece has now become 2 seperate plants.
Anyway, thats me, still loving Comfrey, maybe one day though I may change that tune if the supposed Comfrey Invasion comes....

Happy Spring Gardening all.

RE: Comfrey

I'm not sure BigSteps - I pulled some leaves off by hand today - they were only little, no more than 10cm long, but I've already learnt I can't kill Len's comfrey, so I wasn't worried about taking them - and I must have got stuck by the bristles on the leaves or something - my hand is still red and itchy 10 hours later!

*cowers inside in fear of triffyd/comfrey cross with dastardly spiked leaves*

*makes mental note to use gloves next time*
