chicory

I bought some chicory (Cichorium intybus) from Renaissance herbs, but I wanted it for the blue flowers. I have had lots of leaf growth but no flowers yet. The roadside plants are now flowering. Will I get any or do I need a different cultivar? I don't fertilize it.

Chicory is one TOUGH plant. I've noticed it flowering on the roadsides around here too. Very pretty. Once you've planted it I predict you'll never get rid of it, the taproot goes very deep. I'm not sure about the flowering, but I think you're right not to fertilise. Is it in the sun?

Yeah with chicory and a few other varieties related to it you plant the first year and they flower the next or if you plant in winter they will flower in the following spring sometimes......
