A friend told me about this herb recently. I have never heard of it before. Can anyone enlighten me what its botanical name is, cultural needs (etc) and where I can buy it.

RE: King Sage

smithy - salvia is a genus with litterally hundreds of members! A lot of them get called sage something, something sage... I have to say I'm not sure which one they were refering to when they said "king" sage, but you'd haev to assume it was a big one?!? I have a plant that was sold to me as spanish sage which has largish blue/green/grey fuzzy leaves and grows quite tall. Its aroma is not the same musky, savory smell as Salvia officinalis. I also have a cultivar of officinalis which has large rounded leaves and more-or-less the same aroma as regular garden sage. The flowers are always a good help to identification. Perhaps take a photo and post it?

Cheers
J
