Rain in SE Qld

| How did everyone cope with the torrential downfalls, if you live in those areas?
In Gympie, they had from 110 to 130mls rain in about an hour or so. The rain came over our way (just north of Gympie) and stopped about 500m away (as the crow flies), you could see it pouring down on the next ridge over but we got only 12mls, though 36mls for the 24hrs. We don't really need that sought of rain as both tanks and dams are full but it is good for the underground supplies.
My husband got caught in town and ended up directing traffic around flooded areas of the highway for an hour until the rain eased off enough for him to get home, also had to help pull cars out of flood waters when idiots tried to go through. He could have gotten home as other roads home don't flood but rain was too heavy to see through.
The kids Xmas School Concert and Presentation Night was cancelled which disappointed the kids, I'm still waiting to find out when it is going to be on now.
At least we didn't suffer any damage and I hope you all avoided damage too. Hopefully some rain went into the dams to ease the restrictions. |

Nuffing in Mackay; grey glary horrible day. 4" at mum's place which is 20 mins north of the acreage, hope to hear tonight what it had. Drove down from Townsville this am, just fine drizzle for the first hour or so. The frangiis don't mind the lack of rain, they look brilliant (remember ashmeri's roundabout?!) Good to hear of falls in SE. |
