Hello all the gardening experts out there or anyone who has also had much the same. I am certainly no expert gardener I am only trying to do up the backyard a little and recently around this area we have had woodchips put in and also a new deck built around. Anyway this morning when I was viewing the garden I spotted a Yellow Spongey type growth in the garden around this area and have not clue what it is, it just turned up overnight. I touched it and it smells like a general weed. I have photos of it in the below links. Is there anyone who would be able to tell me what this is and why it is there? Many Thanks!
PS... The Orange spot in the photos is where my finger touched it.

g'day revolution, it is one of the fungii, i get that and lots of other diff' ones it is part of the process using organic material and the break down process. len
It looks to me like some type of fungi which is probably living on the woodchips. It is a natural occurence. If it doesn't appeal to you just wrap it up in a bag and dispose of it. Always wash your hands after touching unknown fungi because some are poisonous. You can just leave it unless you are worried that children may play with it....Cheers, Dee.
Yes I get that Fungi all the time in my mulch as well as bright orange, purple and a off white, yesterday I got this cream stick fungi with red on the top, it looked just like a candle with the wax melting down the side certainly interesting , Nature is wonderful dont you think.......Cheers..MM.
Hi all and thank you for your replies. I did actually find out what it is and it's not harmful so I have let it go. It has now dried up and has turned brown, just like the link mentions. Thanks again for your replies. http://www.colostate.edu/Dept/CoopExt/4DMG/Pests/slime.htm
