Frangipani has flowers but no leaves

Posted by fishvark NSW (My Page) on

Hi,

My frangipani has flowers but no leaves as yet. It has small brown shoots which i assume are the new leaves, but they have been small and brown (not dead) for about 2 months. Is there something wrong with my frangipani?

thanks
richard

g'day richard,

can't be sure but always imagined when they flower they don't have a lot of foliage on board? they do like full sun and warm positions though.

the friendly gardeners over at the free forums at:

garden express

might have better information.

happy new year

Len will you please stop trying to advertise your own little web site? It is rather annoying, and no doubt does not comply with the terms and conditions of this web site.

As for the frangipani question, I have noticed this in many areas. Could be lack of water - they are a tropical plant after all.

Gday,
Im in central qld & have 4 frangipanis(2 white/yellow, 2 white/yellow/pink). My trees bloom and die back approx 4 weeks after all the other trees in the area. They seem healthy and happy, they are just slow. :) How old is the tree, and is it potted or grounded. If its old it may need pruning.

Just trying to help.

Hi Richard,
I have a potted frangipani which has the same small brown shoots. These shoots are gloosy and comb shaped but also don't seem to be doing much. The only thing i can say about this is that frangipanis are apparently verrrrry slow growers.

Good luck with it,

Azz

hi,

thanks for everyones help. I recently planted the tree (6 months ago) into the ground. It was quite large around 2 metres. Some of the branches feel soft, not hugely soft just softer than other frangipani trees. I have given it some seasol and am hoping it is slow growing!

cheers
richard
