kawaiineko, so, they did get fruit but these were small. A varietal characteristic? Are others in your neighborhood growing the crop? Are they more successful? Are nurseries or box stores promoting the sale of these plants? Drew51 made a good point about growing the crop outside of its 'season'. If all the evidence support your efforts, then fertilizer might be the key. I want to suggest additional Potassium but I am wary for two reasons. The first is that potassium is somewhat antagonistic to nitrogen. But nitrogen deficiency is easily diagnosed. Secondly, I would not be surprised if calcium also becomes deficient. I have not grown that one. It is a different species than eggplant, so pollination may be different. I have not heard the folks who grow it mentioning any pollination probelms however. So maybe all you need is patience and warmer temperatures.

I don't know what some of these post are talking about. A flea beetle is the size of a pin head, and they do not fly. However a can jump quite a distance for there size. Make sure there is no weeds or other vegetation around the plant. If you put down black plastic in a row and plant the eggplant through the plastic, that will help. One thing you can try is the sticky goo I use for the apple maggot fly. Use a piece of bright yellow plastic card covered with the goo. They are attracted to the color and will get stuck in the in the goo. Depending on the number of beetle, you might have to replace the card or clean it. Vegetable oil is use as a solvent for the goo and then some soap and water. reapply the goo. I would use a piece a card 4" x 6" at each plant.

I did spot spiders underside leaf. But what was surprising is the new leaves that are just about sprouting also appear sick. I will take cleaner shots today evening and post here. I am thinking about round 2 of organicide per manufacturer recomendation, not sure if it will work though
