| This year our clump of F. meleagris flowered better than ever and we are now left with several big fat seed heads. Has anyone grown it from seed before? I hear it is quite a long process, several years before you have plants which will flower and take care of themselves in the garden? Despite this I would like to give it a go, they are a beautiful bulb, one of my favoutite things in the garden. |

Yes - it grows easily from seed. Spread it on top of the potting mix, and cover lightly with vermiculite and keep it just damp. Put the pot or container in the shade and sit back and wait. Late autumn is the best time to plant it. Make sure you use sterile potting mix, because the tiny seeldings look like grass. You will get heaps, as I did. The take about 3 or 4 years to bloom. I got my first bloom this year. They are pretty hassle free, so worth the wait. Cheers, Jan |

| Thankyou sparaxis, good practical advice, I'll get them started after the summer as you suggested. Can't wait to have lots of little frities :) |
