 o
Sheep Manure ?

Posted by manure_man Melbourne (My Page) on

Hi all.

I want to pose a question to the forum members regarding a potential business supplying sheep manure to metro Melbourne. I have noticed that its not for sale in Bunnings and most garden centers i have been to.

So the burning question, if sheep manure was readily available would you want it?

Im not sure if it would be home delivery or sold through garden centers / bunnings etc, im just trying to gauge what the level of demand would be for this wonderful manure.

Suggestions and comments welcome.

Regards
manure man

Peter Cundall says sheep manure is great for the soil.I hav'nt
used it,using cow and chicken, perhaps because sheep is not readily available close to me.I think it would have to be a large operation to make it financially viable.
good luck chas

I would love to be able to get sheep manure in Sydney and would buy it if available at the nursery or at Bunnings. I have a small gardening business based on organic practices and would definetly use sheep poo on my squeemish clients' gardens.

I'm surprised that there are not thousands of replys here but I find initial resistance from clients but once the the benefits are explained they love the idea.

I am in Melbourne's north east and my local Mitre 10 does sell sheep manure by the bag for about $8. I would be keen to buy it by the cubic metre rather than by the bag. Where are you based manure_man and do you sell to the public?

RE: Sheep Manure ?

Hi Gardeners.... (apologies for the massive delay in replying)

Well it has been a long year (more than) but its finally here. I now have the capability to supply lots of sheep manure and it is happening. I have been bagging for the last couple of weeks and have just started advertising. Im prepared to offer the forum members (and others who stumble upon this) 2 free bags with their first order. This offer is valid until the end of March 2011. Please quote "gardenweb" when you email or call me up to get this offer.

The bags i supply are just over 50 litres (its pointless quoting the weight as it varies with the moisture content of the manure.... which does vary substantially).

Home delivery is included in the price. Currently im delivering to most of Metro Melbourne.

Pricing varies with the quantity purchased as my primary cost is transport, so the more i drop off per delivery the better it is for the business... and your garden.

Pricing:
Minimum order of 5 bags
5-9 bags - $8 per bag
10-19 bags - $7 per bag
20+ bags - $6 per bag (this is 1 cubic meter at $120 delivered)

The current lot is upto 6 years old (as it was a new shed six years ago), much of it is wonderfully rotted and it looks and feels just awesome
