birds seen about town

we've seen some extremely small birds flitting about local mock orange bushes and melaleucas

they are extremelt small- smaller than a zebra finch (about the size of a bengalese finch), dark or black with a yellow fanned tail
the birds had large (for their bodies) hooked beaks and flew like humming birds - hovering over the flowers

does anyone have any idea if we have humming birds in Queensland? or what this little bird might be?

It is most likey to be either a type of Thornbill or a type of Honeyeater. By the size your have mentioned I would have thought Thornbill, but you mention a hooked beak which sounds more like a Honeyeater.
Cheers,
Dee.
