| Hi Ya Len. I would like to know where they take the readings for Logan as my 7.5mm does not match the 20-50mm they said on the news. We got another 7mm last might, and it has been raining very very softly since about 7am its eased off now neally 9am. Why couldn't it had rained at 5am when I got up to do the garden beds they are so dry under the mulch only a little rain is going down the stems of those plants. I am not greedy but it sure would be great if it could rain just a little heavier. Cheers..MM. |

| g'day mm, yup that's how the cookie crumbles all depends where they take the readings hey eg.,. the readings for where i am are taken at the town centre 5 kilometers to the west of us but on an average we get 15% more rain than they do. it all comes down to rain corridors even when rain looks general there can be huge differences over a few kilometers away from each other. like my doctor he can see rain to his north a mere 5 minute drive away yet he gets none then on the same day we are 15 minutes away from where he lives and we got twice as amuch as his friend 5 minutes away. the only way to know your rainfall is to record it yourself, i can now show people what my rainfall is puts paid to the myth started by gympie real estate agents that any further than 5 minutes north of gympie is too dry, when in fact the rainfall on our place is very equivalent to gympie 30 k away not bad hey. len |

| The rain here is very patchy too. We had about 25mm a couple of nights ago and 25mm in the gauge this morning from gentle soaking rain all night but only a couple of sprinkles during the day. Yesterday, at my husband's work about 5km from here as the crow flies and not far from the golf course, it poured heavily for 45mins about 8am. He thought there would have been over 25mm then. I could see the rain from home but we didn't get any of that :( Been a far bit of sun today so looks like it's clearing. Hopefully it's the start of a normal rainy season. |
| g'day goldhills, hardly any sun here today been well overast, looks like a line of storms forming to the south west of us so we may get a storm tonight, satellite pic shows more rain on the way, full moon tomorrow night not a bad time for some good precipitation. mm the rain guage could be at the official post office maybe? len |
| O thanks Len????. I am wondering which one that could be I must try and find out. Watching the news and weather tonight it said Logan got 10mm we got 17mm isn't that great. It rained for a few hours late morning/early afternoon very gently but it all soaked in. Cheers..MM. |
| Len are you in Gunalda or Glenwood by any chance? BTW you can all thank me for this rain. Guess whose house renovations began on Tuesday. Does the word "moat" mean anything to you? I'm near Caboolture and we got 115mm on Thursday night and it has rained most of the day today. |
| that's good mm hey? it would have to be an official office could also be telstra or the like. sally i'm at gunalda thank you for causing the rain hey, reckon our trees where telling not to start any projects hey, hope you still have the roof on? len |
| Hi Len that 17mm we got yesterday turned into 23.5mm over the 24 hour period. So everything has had a good drink on the surface and the grass is green. We may have to start the mowers up one of these days I hope they havn't seized up. I cannot remember the last time we mowed, many months ago?. Cheers..MM. |
| Only got another 3 mm overnight but still overcast. Hopefully get a little more. Sally, how's Caboolture these days? I lived at Morayfield and Caboolture for a few years but it got too busy for me. We moved about 11-12yrs ago just before they built the big shopping centre at Morayfield. It was still Franklins then. |
| I grew up in Gunalda and my parents still live there. |
| g'day sally, where in gunalda do your parents live no need to be exact? len |
| It's a small world |
| Goldhills - Sorry didn't see that you mentioned Morayfield/Caboolture. We live on acreage not far from Oakey Flat Rd. The area is much busier now. Takes forever to get through Caboolture at school time etc. Len - My parents are on a farm about 4km from town. They both grew up in the area also. Riddle - Where do nerds go to eat fuit cake? Let's see if you can crack that :-) |
| lol sally lol lol, yeh rite think i got it hey lips are sealed. we will be in the redcliffe deception bay area when we buy a new home. len |
| Sally, my parents used to be in Clarke Rd, off Oakey Flat Rd near the hockey field. I lived there for a while when they travelled round Australia then bought a house not far from Morayfield School and my in-laws used to live in Peterson Rd. Also my family originally comes from the Biggenden area but my parents grew up in Gympie. I am the only one of my family that has come back to the area but I wouldn't leave it now. I love the place. This seems to be getting off track. Back to the rain - we got about 10mm overnight. You got me, where do nerds go to eat fruit cake? |
| we got just under 18mm last night total 94.5mm for the 5 days so far. len |
