Buying frenzy!

well, the ABC had their biannual "Carpark Capers" plant sale today (it's an event which raises money for various charities)

all I have to say for myself is....i couldn't help it!! There were sooooo many plants available!! I include below, the list of what I bought.

Geranium Bevan's Variety
Heliotropes
Russell Lupins
Scarlet valerian (it's so hard to find in either seed or plant form in someone's garden (lol), so just had to buy it

Galtonia candicans bulbs, 4 in a pot already growing (would you believe only $2 - I paid $10 for one bulb, from a certain well-known mail order nursery a few years ago!)

Orthrosanthus polystachyus - a native with blue flowers, strappy leaves
Melaleuca filifolia - pink ball flowers
Asters
basil
kalanchoes - one red and one white

Could have bought so much more, but caught in a huge downpour, got drenched and had to go home to dry off and warm up before I managed to catch pneumonia!! (and I have way too many plants to plant out to have time to get sick lol

Hi it sounds like you had a good time seeing you bought heaps of plants.
I will have to do some googleing as there are two there I have never heard of.
So I have just got to find out what they are.
You got wet you are lucky as here is it warm windy and very dry.

RE: Buying frenzy!

Hello all,
I'm a newbie to this forum and an avid cottage gardener!
Yes I too braved the weather and went to the carpark caper on Sat. At least the crowds weren't as bad as they usually are. I was surprisingly reserved with my purchasing - maybe the blustery weather, an on-looking husband or maybe the fact that I bought up big at the Cottage Garden Club's annual sale the weekend earlier! Wow, Ashke! So many -plants - have you planted them all yet? I'm looking to get a crucifix orchid in the near future.. they're so pretty.
