Plants for exposure to salt

| Hello fellow gardeners. I have to plant a garden for a lady, but the bed will be exposed to all elements as the ocean is accross the road. I'm wanting suggestions for the best type of shrubs to grow. Thanks, Sallrose. |

| A couple of weeks ago on GA, Pete showed a garden that needed a salt wind barrier. Plants with leathery leaves seem to stand up well to salt especailly if they also have furry backs. Proteas were one group and I think some similar plants. It would need a more acid soil for them. A lot of our natives do well in these conditions. I'm sure there are loads here with similar problems. |

| Thanks one all for your suggestions. Much appreciated. Missed GA, but might get it on the re runs on Optus. Actually, I'll go to the web site and see if the plants are listed. Cheers, Sallyrose |

you could try looking around the neighbour houses for ideas and in the current drought you cloud look at oz natives to fill the gaps like westringa(coastal rosemary) banksia integrfolia(coastal banksia) but there are plenty I just dont know them all try the native forum the have some people there who know ther stuff too |
