Gardenias

I've got 2 varieties of Gardenias growing right next to each other. (sorry but not sure of their names).
Anyway, one (smaller leaf variety) is flowering madly where the other variety is getting plenty of flower buds but they seem to "brown off" and drop before they open.
Both varieties get exactly the same treatment with water, fertilizer etc.
Any suggestions????

A couple of possibilities. Check very thoroughly for caterpillars. They can munch into the buds, causing damage which stops them opening. Check the soil for dampness. Dig a little hole near the gardenia after you have watered and see how far down it has penetrated. Gardenias like to be moist (but not wet) and really resent drying out. It may be that you are not watering it enough, or that the soil has become hydrophobic (i.e. resisting water absorbtion). If that is the case you can use a wetting agent.
Cheers,
Dee.

Super Phosphate to encourage flowers and then Potash for a stronger better quality of flower. If you ever get yellowing of the leaves then I find Sulphate of Ammonia or Iron will fix
