Has anyone suggestions for planting a Bird of Paradise (stellitzia?) in a pot and where to position it?

They like a good deal of sunshine, but it is a good idea to protect it from the hottest afternoon sun. A large pot is a good idea because they do have a pretty good root system. They are quite hardy but will respond well to good watering regularly.
