Thanks, Misty

I thought it was a funnelweb, too. It has made it's web in the gap between the fence so it has somewhere to hide.

Does anybody else agree?

g'day penny,

i reckon it is a common house spider they come in black or grey colours, will they bite well if forced to yes and the venom could affect any individual in a number of ways i guess like bee stings. do a goodle for brown or black house spiders se what you find?

first up a funnel web would be found at ground level usually under things or near foundations where they can built a funnell and set their web up. as far as i know they are a ground spider.

i like to have common house spiders and the similar looking to red-back paper spider and daddy-long legs have their webs around as that then gives no place for the red back to live.

so you have 2 options leave them well alone, or spray them or ask a pest expert or entomologist what they are, the latter option being the best the local dpi, uni or museum will help in positive id, with no pressure for treatment.
