Shade house viability

I haven't started my shade house yet though after the wind that was blowing last night (SE QLD) I think it is going to need to be pretty study.
Anyone ever had much blown away from the garden in storms? This may be a stupid question but we haven't been here long...

RE: Shade house viability

We built our house here to Nt Qld wind ratings ( Cyclones ) as when we lived there we often seen on the news, houses loosing there roofs here. The second year we were here nearly all my hibiscus were ripped out of the gound.

So build it strong Mother Nature can be so vicious especially here in SE Qld..Cheers..MM.

RE: Shade house viability

A wholesale nursery I worked at about 15 - 20yrs ago lost a shadehouse in a wild storm. They had 2 huge shadehouses that covered 5 acres and the one that was ripped to shreds covered about 3 acres. The new shadehouse was built to withstand wind better.

Apparently with shadehouses, the shadecloth when fixed, should not be stretched too tight, it should have a bit of give in it.

An igloo style shadehouse is a good design as the wind blows over them.
