| I'm overdue to replace my hose, so would appreciate advice as to what brand/'model' gives good value for money. I assume I'll have to pay <$40 for something worthwhile. |

| Hi Vincent...In 1985 I bought a Nylex tripleflex hose with the three yellow lines down it, supposed to be the best at the time, and it was having laid on the ground in Melbourne during frost for nine years, then same thing the next six years in Townsville with the scorching heat, and now five years here in Brisbane I would recomend that hose to anyone or so I though. Last year I purchased two new hoses one being the nylex tripleflex and another one a light green colour with two yellow stripes as I wanted a much longer hose I paid more than $40 for each of them. The tripleflex does not live up to its name anymore its allways twisting and its a hard hose they used to be a lot softer than that when new, it may even snap in the frost, and what a waste of money the other one was its even worse, it has this terrible kink in it and I wish I had kept the docket as then I could have returned it. Those expensive ones come with a five or more year guarantee, but you can get that much life from a $7 hose complete with fittings from the supermarket, I used to only buy the expensive ones thinking they are made in Australia, but never again as the two I have are lemon's. I hope you have better luck choosing your new hose than I did...Cheers...MM. |

| What we did the last time was get a length of good quality hose from Bunnings and put fittings on it...it was expensive but we wanted a really long hose and couldn't get one ready done and this one is left out all the time has been driven over and parked on at times but it has been terrific........it is white in colour...Tina |

That's a thought Tina. Just bought a nylex tripleflex too; marked down from $45 to $25. This is the first time I've gone for even medium quality. The plan is to attach it to a short hose and fix a central point to avoid tugging on a timer fitting that points in the other direction. Kinks are dangerous, this is how I broke my toe in June, looking backwards and trying to unkink a cold hose...walked into a stump. But lots of wrongs there: barefoot, stump left in, cr*p hose. At dh's office, I leave a guaranteed-to-kink $7 job permanently out the front, hoping the thieving types will pinch it. They haven't! It doesn't have to go far, and it does the job. Rose |
