Creepers for verandah

Hi, You'll probably see a bit of me on here, as we've just moved into a new house with a lovely garden and I'm itching to put the touches on it to make it mine!

Anyway, I would like to grow something up the verandah posts, under the lip of my bullnose verandah. We have two french doors which open out onto the garden, but unfortunately part of our view is hampered by the brand spanking new roof of the neighbour's house over the back fence. The Colour-Bond reflects a dazzling amount of light straight back at us at certain times of the day. We've got Pittosporum growing along the back fence, which hopefully eventually will block out most of it, but I thought a planting as described above might screen out that last bit of glare from our view from inside. At the foot of the posts in question, there is concrete, so what ever I grow must be happy in a pot. I plan to run a line out from my auto drippers. BTW that side of the house faces North and I live in Western Melbourne.

So my questions: would jasmine be a possibility? Any other suggestions? The winning plant would need to grow fairly quickly, but also not be damaging to my house. I envisage something that is lush and possibly fragrant, that can be trained or pruned back from the walkway. I'll try and see if I can post a photo somewhere of the entrance, so you can see what I'm working with.

RE: Creepers for verandah

OK here's the links to some pics to demonstrate what I'm trying to achieve. (see below "Verandah Photos")
0939 is the view from inside. The big white bit in the top left hand corner is the reflection of the roof I'm talking about. It's worse from other angles.
0940 you can see the roof and the pittosporum. I don't think the pitto will ever grow high enough to obscure the roof completely, but a little higher would be enough to block the view from inside the house. About another foot would do it.
0941 shows the view of the verandah and doors from the garden. I was thinking of having two pots- one at the foot of each post and train a climber up to join in the middle. Currently there is a watering system in place that runs at ground level around the edge of the house. Hope that helps!
