Sorry if this has been posted before but--

What are the best wetting agents to use? Granules or the liquid form.

Any other tips on usage would be appreciated.

g'day gratlog,

if you want this for garden or open soil areas why not try watering with grey water that will give you a similar result, after all as far as i know wetting agents are mostly a detergent type material.

Be very, very carefull when watering with grey water. Most of the common detergents have considerable amounts of sodium and phosphorous. The sodium will have a detremental effect on soil structure and phosphorous is no good for natives. I have seen soils wrecked as a result of too much grey water especially clay soils. If you wish to use grey water, start using the low sodium and low phosphorous detergents. Do a Google on detergents, low sodium and low phosphorous and you will get a recommended list.

Otherwise either the wetting agent granules or the liquid wetting agents are both fine. The water granules that swell up, need to be mixed deeply into the root zone. To prevent water loss apply lots of mulch.

I always feel the granules don't seem to work as well as the liquid, although miles easier to apply. Wettasoil seems to be the superior product.
