storms sailing by...what does it take?

Grrrr!. Well from the inky black sky this afternoon, you would have sworn something big was about to happen. Lightning, thunder, we were bunkered down, hopeful of some rain without damage.
Nothing. Scarcely a drop. If I had put my bath-towel on the back porch, it would have come in dryer than when it went out.
Disappointment? You bet. |

Its one continual disapointment after another these days...Cheers..MM. |

| Well, hopefully, we'll get something here way up north of Brisbane. From what I've seen on the weather reports, Brisbane has had about 10 times more rain than we've had here in the (dry) Tropics over the last 12 months. Kathy |

| Only managed 1mm of rain in gauge, that did not even settle the dust. HJ and Len your area's always seems to get rain when the Southern end of Brissie and the West never gets any. Kathy I hope you get some too, having lived north of TSV I know how dry it can get up that way..Cheers..MM. |

| Suggestion here... If all you Queenslanders get together each put in a few dollars you could pay my airfare to the drought areas in question. Because every time I go to Qld on holiday IT POURS! BTW its pouring down here at the moment. pam |

| Our storms usually go to the south or north of us and we only get the edge. Sometimes I'm glad of that as we are in a good lightning area, always getting a few very close ones. Actually had one hit the back pergola (steel frame but luckily not attached to the house) nearly 2 years ago during that week of really hot weather and bad storms that hit Brissy. Gave us all a fright, all 4 kids slept on mattresses on lounge room floor the rest of the night while I had to sit up with them :( Had a few mls last night though not sure how much as someone bumped the raingauge and it was leaning over. Only 2mls in gauge but my guess is twice that. Had rumbles of thunder and small storms go past to the south all afternoon until about 8.15 when there was half hour of light rain. Better than nothing - trying to be optimistic here :) Hoping for lots more rain (without too much lightning) for everyone, at least those that need it. |

| Hi Goldhills, I can remember as a kid sitting on the floor in the middle of the night WITH MUM!!!!! She was the one terrified of storms----still is, got it from my Nana, two of a kind--- broke the mould with me though, I don't mind them unless they get too bad, you know, when the lightening strikes are louder than the thunder!!!!! We had a good drop of rain last night, our gauge is broken but about 10-12 ml just a guess. Bring it on!!!! Marnie. |
