| What did you all think of this year's offering? |

Disappointed, as usual. No, make that even more disappointed considering the show is in it's 5th or 6th year. Yes, I know some people think it's wonderful, and no doubt they will think I'm being highly critical, but I am just not impressed by the ordinary. Why do I keep going? For the same reason I watch GA and subscribe to the magazine, I want to support what is being done for gardening in this country. If we all turn away the standard will drop even further. I can't list what I thought was wrong with the show, besause it was all so forgetable, I've forgotten it already. |

Yes, ditto to all of the above. I always come away with a bit of a wishy washy feel. Perhaps they are trying so hard to be all things to all people that they end up being nothing to anyone. I have no answers...only theories. Cheers, Dee. |

| Come on now, it wasn't that bad. We enjoyed our day at the Garden Show. Yes it's very commercial with every man and his dog selling their wares, but hey it gives you a good chance to compare products and see new ones. I actually saw plants cheaper there than I had bought at a Garden Club a couple of weeks prior. I was delighted to find the Southern Cross stand as I have been meaning to buy one of their coats for a while now. Paid for it on the Friday and it arrived from Tasmania on the following Monday. I loved the new twirling wind chimes that were on display and bought some as well. Peter Cundell was great to listen to. All in all we had a very pleasant day and will probably go next year. |

We have stopped watching the tv show because it seems to be all about roses or something they've shown already. They seem to repeat story ideas. Its getting boring. And if he says it really does break his heart again I'll scream. My mother loves him. |

| I'll be going to Melbourne show soon - I'm sure I'll be a tad disappointed...but I have heard that even Chelsea is getting more and more disappointing (but hey - I'd be there with bells on) Peter Cundell is the gardener worth watching on Australain tv, not dear Don Burke or your Jamie J! Well...thats yer bloomin'lot..........er sorry! ;) |

I've enjoyed the GA Show in previous years but couldn't get there this time. I mostly enjoy the availability of suppliers for stuff my locals don't keep. Any expectation of anything other than a glorified shop, wouldn't be satisfied though. I always find the display gardens a real waste of time, very ho hum. I reckon you've got to be a bit wary though, and not buy plants that aren't clearly established and romping away. I have had experience where one or two suppliers were selling what was pretty much a barely rooted cutting in some things - not cheap either. A trap for young players. |

I went to the Show today in Melbourne. I enjoyed the day, heard some interesting talks on a variety of subjects that were of interest to me -a beginner gardener. The set up was organised and as usual there was everyone selling stuff. Still if you listened to the speakers, if that is your area of interest I found it very helpful. Cheers Michelle |

Depending on their level of experience or obsession, each person will get varying degrees of satisfaction and benefit out of such events. While I guess it would be impossible to make an event of great interest to each and every one of us, it would be nice to have something that made us think our money and time had been well-spent. |

I thoroughly enjoyed what little I saw of the show on Thursday. I went down with the garden club on the bus, and spent 3 hours talking to people about irises, for the Victorian Iris Society display. Last year we gave out 2000 pamphlets, which meant we had record numbers at the show in late October, and an increase in membership during the year. I would have liked to have had more time to get round all the stalls. It seemed a lot greener than the flower and garden show in Autumn, which leans so much towards hard landscaping stuff, fountains and statuary, and overly modern design ideas. I would rather see greenery and colour. I particularly enjoyed seeing the wonderful displays of daffodils (in season) and potted orchids. I will certainly go again next year, but I might give the Autumn one a miss. |
