Alternative to grass please

We had an area of lawn about 3 metres by 2 metres that has died off because the surrounding bamboo screening has grown taller.

I'd would really appreciate anyone's suggestions of what to replace the lawn with. The area around the lawn has tropical plants.

I would like to have something green there rather than pebbles or mulch.

I am intending to trim back the bamboo so the area will get partial sun.

Thanks

Yeah, look, I agree, something other than pebbles, etc., is much nicer. Have you thought of dwarf mondo grass? The green variety, blends better than the black and is tougher.
