Roundup and Cacti

Hi All
I have a query regarding the use of glyphosate (roundup) use with succulents in general.
From my limited experience alot of fleshy plants do not suffer from the application of roundup ie; agapanthus etc. Wondering as to whether this applies to cacti as I have a job where there are weed infestations amongst very spike cacti and I dont like being a pincushion!
Any thoughts greatly appreciated

| Spraying wont kill them, but you could try slitting the leaves and putting a stronger solution into them, when we want to kill a tree hubby drills holes in them and pours neat Glyphosate 450 into the holes that works so I dont see why it wont work on cacti. Best of luck.. |

| Reading your post again do you mean you want to kill the weeds amongst the cacti, if so then paint the weeds rather than spray or use a small sprayer like a 500ml bottle where you can adjust the spray or squirt a lot easier and get down to spray the weeds. What about putting newspapers around the cacti time consuming I know but if you dont want anything to happen to the plants it may be the best way.. |

Hi Andrew, I suggest reducing the dose of Glyphosate. I wouldn't use 450g/L but just the standard 360g/L would be best. Dilute at about 60ml spray per 15L water. regards Kris |
