Snowing!

| It's finally snowing - haven't seen snow here for a few years. Snow fixes nitrogen in the air and deposits it on the soil, so a great for the soil. (and it's pretty...)

| Well Robyn when it is 5 degs here in Brisbane in the early morn and we have to light the fire late of a evening now just so we can have a warm house in the mornings that cold has to be coming from somewhere. And I heard on the early news that down the South of Oz it may snow today, yes it would be a pretty sight, any chance of a Pic. You have a great day, from the now sunny and a much warmer Queenslander. Cheers..MM |

| I missed it pretty much. It was snowing lightly when I left home this morning, and no snow in Melbourne. Just got back and there were drifts of snow on the side of the road from Bungaree through to Creswick - very pretty. |

| >Snow fixes nitrogen in the air and deposits it on the soil So does rain! I'll settle for rain any day. I'm a bit cold blooded, I think, can't stand the cold. |

| I'm like Pam, too cold for me. It's bad enough here, mornings been down to 3 - 6 C lately. Though can't complain about this winter, it's been much warmer than usual. The poincianna is only just starting to lose it's leaves and the frangipannis still have most of their leaves. |

| Its snowing here in Tas too, first time here for 8 years and it snowed all day. Its pretty to look at through the window! Am a bit worried about my tender plants as they thought it was Spring. |

hi all, well the snow lasted for two days here and my cinerarias and heliotropes(cherry pie), fuschias, were completely buried and I thought woops I will have lost the lot, but miracles of miracles the snow melted slowly and had no direct sun on it and both types of plants have not been affected at all, the pelargoniums were only slightly flattened and my cymbidiums werent even affected at all and their pots were full of snow, MM the frangipannii were under shelter but are ok and look like that bit of cold didnt bother them and they look like shooting ,so it was miracles all round , cheers all hope everyone elses plants survived lorraine |

| Hope you're all keeping warm. We had 9C all day yesterday, may seem warm to southerners but it's cold for day time up here. And light rain all day, only 10 mls but better than nothing. It was 3C this morning under our back pergola up against the house. Roll on summer. Frangipannis don't seem to be affected by the cold as much as most people think. I used to live in a place called Conondale where frosts and down to minus temperatures was an everyday thing and we had frangis there that grew without a problem. Hope spring starts soon so we can get gardening properly - seeds in, new plants, new veges, etc. |

| The cold got up here as far as Rockhampton, brr. 12 deg. I bet the snow looks wonderful though if only the wind we have here wasn't blowing off it. Sun is out and if you can find a cosy nook in it is is lovely looking at the grass turning green again from the rain. My Chinese Pistachio is finally turning into an Autumn coloured tree. Marion |

Thats wonderful Lorraine, yes they will probably shoot but that does not mean that they have roots yet, Mind you after the last two days here in freezing Brissie its a wonder our tropical Plants dont turn up their toes. And may your Frangipani go on to flower in the warmer weather Cheers...MM |

| According to an email from a friend of mine in Minnesota, the "massive snowfalls across Australia" featured on their televisions news services. From their description of the coverage (and from what I saw of USA-based television news when I was living there a few years back) it sounds like the news services once again made Australia sound like an island which is 4km in diameter and our entire pokey little island was under 8 feet of snow. |

yep the snow was lovely and soooo pretty , but I felt for the neighbours cattle as they all had to be hand fed, and thankyou for the tips on my frangiis, now if the wind doesnt get to much of a chill factor in it ,and my coughs and bugs etc are on the mend I might finally get my roses finished, you just watch ,now I reckon we will probably have a ripper of a summer and the heat and me dont go together to well ,oh well cant have it all ways can we ,thanks for letting me put my two bobs worth in ,cheers all and have a great weekend ok lorraine |
