taken an interest in orchids

I am thinking about starting to grow some orchids and would like someone to give me help, you know where to put them, can thay go under my trees, do I need a shade house, where to get the plants to start with. do thay come as seeds or bulbs, hopeing somebody can help.

Hi Dave there is heaps of Info out there on the web have a look at the link below its from SA.
Its a good website for Info for lots of plants and gardening.
And dont forget the 600 plus Native Orchids we have here in the lucky country.

Is there an Orchid society near you, ?
There are usually wonderful members who will give you all the information for your area and if they are like the ones we met here in Rockhampton they will probably share some plants with you when you are starting up.

You know that the first Orchid you buy or have will infect you with the Orchid growing Virus don't you ? LOL

Yes, I think your best bet is to contact a local group - they can answer all your questions whereas a website may not answer all of them and their advice will not have local knowledge. Good luck.
