hi all - i will soon be digging up my old lawn which is currently 1/4 couch and 3/4 weeds and relaying a new lawn (I will be reducing the area from aprox 100 square meters down to about 30 or 40 and installing a subsurface watering system for those who dont like the idea of lawns in our drought sticken land :O) - i am looking for ideas on getting rid of the old stuff so it doesnt grow back - should i poison first - what sought of depth should i cut to get rid of roots and weed bulbs, etc? cheers :O)

Arrr, hell, adelaide_grdn_novice, why not just go over it all with 'Roundup', or 'Zero 490'? That will kill it all off right down to the roots, and save you the energy of digging. After that perhaps look at succulents.

thanks funnelweb - turns out i left it too late to get organised for the week of garden renovations I was planning for my annual leave - so will have to put up with a brown front yard like the rest of the neigborhood for another year - you're right though, when i do get around to it i reckon i will just poison if off - cheers
