It has made me so happy

I have found 4 different breeds of birds making and sitting on nests in our garden.

It makes the decision to be a cat free home after our old cat " The Boss " went to God, all the more the right one.

Now I have to resist the urge to have a peek to see what is happening in the nests !!!!!

Marion that's wonderful I have had that pleasure too.

I actually get the ladder out and have a peek into the nests even take pics when the chickies are older, and the nest is not out of reach. I only do it when the parents have gone to dinner. One year a couple of birds nested in a Grevillea 90 cms off the ground right near the back decking so I used to sit there for hours watching those eggs hatch into plucked chicks with huge eyes then they got their feathers, and about three weeks after they hatched they were gone.

I was so sad as it was the most beautiful experience, I see them courting now so maybe this week they will do it again. I know that you will enjoy this wonderful event as much as I did. Cheers...MM.

My aim here is to attract birds too, but the plants aren't growing yet. Post a few pictures for us all.

my sister in law had a willie wagtail make its nest on one arm of her Hills Hoist.
I was a lot of fun hanging the washing outr once they had hatched. She would only hang washing on one part of the hoist whilst Mummy and daddy birds twittered madly overhead.
The rest of the washing went into the dryer. It was such a tiny little woven nest and I still can't beleive that there was three chicks hatched out of it.

We have Willy wagtails nesting here too and they build such a nice neat little nest it is so funny looking at the great fat chicks trying to fit in it.

The nests of all the birds are so different and such works of art. They are always nicking off with the Old Man's Beard I have hanging round in the trees.
