Good Idea or Not

I just cannot resist a plant, just bought a pot with Hardenbergia in it, not one plant but two.
There is a purple and a white one in the same pot so should I separate them or not before I plant out.
Thinking the two colours together would be pretty, but what about the plants when they get bigger
Would the roots interfer with each other or will it be OK gosh then I have to find a spot for them
What do all you gardeners out there think ???....MM

I saw them in Big W today and one almost made it to the shopping trolley, along with the beautiful japanese lanterns in all the different colours, darn, can't think of the real name for them, seniors moment !!!just as I started to type.

I was wondering about separating them but I think they would look lovely planted together.

Marion, who is thinking about going back the 50 klms , 25 each way, BUT with the price of fuel at the moment I think not.

Marion maybe they will be there next time you go shopping. Yes I seen those Abuliton's too actually they had so many interesting plants there today. I drooled over all the Orchids and I oooed and arred wondering if hubby would get the message now that would make me a wonderful Christmas Gift as I dont have any at present.

Plant them Hardenbergia together you think, yes I will, but I have noticed that the white one seems to be a lot taller and bushier than the purple, mind you I looked for the best one there but they were all the same, just hope the white one does not take over the purple in time....MM

Hi MM,
They have sold the hardenbergias down here in the 'twin pack' for quite some years now. They are designed to be planted together for a wonderful effect. I don't believe that the white one would take over...if anything it would be the purple one dominating. You can cut them back quite severely and they bloom better than ever.
Cheers,
Dee.

RE: Good Idea or Not ....

Thanks Dee. Yes I would have though the purple would have been the dominate one too
Its just that the white one is so big. Yes I have grown the purple before in Melbourne
but not here and they are such a pretty climber. Cheers..MM.

Yes I wouldn't disturb the "twins" they will look lovely together and you can always keep them about even with a little tip pruning.

Hi, I have seen a picture of the two grown together and they looked great. I would keep them that way.

Greathawks.

Good grief, show the babies chewed up pergola post with pride, gives new meaning to good strong teeth. A burglar might even think wow if they do that to wood what are they going to do to me leg!!!!!
MM where do I get one of those from and how many food stamps do I have to swap to get one? Nah, not quite food stamps but I have developed ingenious ways of making my grocery budget spread further to cope with my indulgent plant purchases.
I bought a standard chinese lantern recently which cost me an arm and a leg and imagine my suprise when the nursery attendant lifted it out of the beautiful pot it was in. I thought the price covered the pot too. Oh well just have to live another week on eggs so I can buy a pot now.
