Camellia cuttings

I am going to do a few camellia cuttings as soon as they finish flowering - do you have any tips to get them to strike? I did try them once before but I didnt look after them very well so they where not successfu.

Usually after flowering there is a surge of new growth and this is far too soft to strike cuttings at this time. I do believe you will have far more success if you wait until this new growth has hardened up,perhaps around Christmas or even January.
Go around your camellias and name them now in anticipation!

I've just done some. Used receny material that didn't have a flower bud, cut below a node and sliced the end to expose more cambium. I have heat and mist to kick them along. Not sure what would happen at ambient. The best time is when the current season's growth becomes firm which is in Jan-Feb I think.
