What direction do twining beans turn in Australia?

Persons on the gardenweb.com vegetable forums have noted that twining beans, aka pole beans, twist in a clockwise direction when viewed from the bottem up and the curious among us wondered if they twist in the opposite direction in Australia.

Of course they do I though everyone knew that, our water goes down the plughole the opposite way to the Northern Hemisphere , BTW the water in our Loo's does not get past a couple of cms from the bottom unless you push the button then it gets flushed all away not sit there right up the top like is does in the USA. Hope this helps. Cheers..MM.

Thanks for responding mistymorn even if you are being sardonic. Further research suggests that the direction of twining may be genus dependant irrespective of hemisphere. I have not been able to confirm that for beans however.

Albert, having seen your post yesterday morning I checked which way ours twine - it is, in fact, counter-clockwise.

Not being sardonic just trying to be helpful as I have visited your beautiful country twice and was surprised at the difference between the USA Europe and Japan with certain things even though all are in the Northern Hemisphere.

I was surprised on the US Plumeria forum one of the members actually wrote that our Plumeria grow the opposite way meaning the little marks on the stem so we have to plant them upside down because we are down under Mind boggling !! where on earth did they get that information from makes you wonder, hence my reply above.
*My apologies to you * Cheers... MM.

MM, I mistook the drift into a discussion of the Loo. Sorry.

I have subsequently learned that the discussion of twining is complicated by the direction that one is viewing the plant. I view the vine in the direction it is growing, that is to say from the bottem up. Apparently some serious biology text view the plant from the top down.
