| Hi folks,
What is your achievement this week? I must brag I started digging out my agapanthus!!! A job I have been putting off for years. I bought two guavas and this forced me to start as they are going where the aggies used to be. I will underplant them with some winter greens until they get bigger. I am sooo very happy. |

| I planted a goji berry bush and my first native lime, potted on my theobroma cacao and got a tomato not scarred and ruined by fruitfly or that greedy little green grub that got the last summer crop. |

| On Monday dug up and transplanted elsewhere, some shrubs that were growing on the south side of the back deck. I bought 2 tree ferns to be planted there, and will create another small fernery, as it is an ideal spot. I still have to tidy it up and bring in a bit more soil. Yesterday I potted up all the bearded iris seeds that have been stratifying in the vegie crisper for 3 months. I am a bit late getting them into the seedraising mix this year, but they are looking great with many of them just starting to put out tiny rootlets. There are 12 pots of seeds from dwarf and intermediate bearded iris crosses (hand pollenations) and 12 crosses from Tall bearded irises. Around 700 seeds in all, so if I even get 50% germination I have my work cut out finding garden spats for them in October. I grow them on until flowering, select the nicest and discard the rest. Today I plan to pot up over 1000 pacific coast iris seeds, tidy my shade house, and think about doing some more on the new fernery. Cheers, Jan |
