Gold coast rain - is our cup running over?

Well after days of spits and spots, too frustrating, today we at least had some solid rain, the sort that lies inches deep in the low spots of the yard and hopefully will sink in and put bucketting away- at least outside- for a week or two.
The BOM records are scatty. I suspect the central gc hinterland has copped the brunt today and there may be a little local flooding - bizarre, isn't it. What a waste to see more going over the spillway
How's Brisbane going and THE DAMS?

If your cup is running over, I sure hope you have a saucer under it to catch the spillage! As last year, we are having a fairly dry autumn here in Central Vic. Rain last night got heavy at times, but not for long enough. It is good to hear that you are getting the rain. The water running over the spillways is not wasted, it goes towards maintaining a healthy ecosystem in rivers, and estuaries.

g'day alison,

brisbane is barely getting good rain out of this in general it is very patchy coastal type rain, not the deluge sort of stuff that saturates the soil and causes floods, that is summer type stuff.

somerset & wivenhoe are too far off the coast for any of this to reach them, unlike hinze, manchester, enoggerra & kurwongbah and the sunshine coast dam (name eludes me) they are all within the edge of the coastal rains strip so they get benefits from this sort of rain.

the only thing that will fill the majors here is a cyclone to cross the coast say between mackay and rockhampton, needs to be catagory 4 type with lots of monsoonal rain in it, then the dams will fill.

we've had 13mm over the past few days, and we live northern bayside.
