Soil block makers?
| | |
Posted by gbell12 NSW Aust (My Page) on Thu, May 25, 06 at 19:16
| Hi,
I'm interested in making "soil blocks" as detailed in the "New Organic Grower" by Eliot Coleman. Does anybody know of a maker/seller of these? Not the blocks themselves, but the rigs to make soil blocks.
Thanks,
~gb

Hi gb Try The Gundaroo Tiller / Allsun Farm at Gundaroo - website www.allsun.com.au. If they don't have them in stock they can propbably get them for you. I met Eliot Coleman years ago at a workshop run by the Allsun people. I bought a set of soil blockers then. I must admit that I never really used them but part of that is due to some effort required to get the right soil mixture so that it holds together. Also I don't do that much propagating that it made it worthwhile. I know Joyce & Mike at Allsum Farm use them. |

Awesome, thanks for the reference to Allsun. They look neat. I'm a little taken aback about the $83 price for the small hand model. Before I send this kind of money, can anybody vouch for the quality and utility? I want to support the cause by I also have a little one on the way :) |

| get your old man to make a wooden form and get a large wooden mallet -or another block of wood - and hammer the soil into the form. same effect and no price |
