Hi guys, we're planning a trip to this part of the world, we're going to hire a car and travel from Byron Bay up to Montville in SE QLD. We have plans to visit Lamington NP and Mt. Warning NP, possibly Nightcap and a few others.

Can anyone recommend any botanical / gardening / nursery delights which we should go and see while in the area? We're interested in all things botanical. We're looking for a bit of local knowledge perhaps.

Jamus

check the open gardens web site to see if any local gardens are open to the public....the botanic gardens are always worth a look see - the link below is to the australian botanical gardens web site - they list all of the BGs in Australia

the australian open gardens web page is http://www.opengarden.org.au/

If you are interested in bananas the Nambour research facility may be running tours?? unsure of that - they can be emailed via the DPI site - the contact button at the top of the page http://www.dpi.qld.gov.au/

enjoy

Tony

O'Reilly in Mt Lamington park out through Canungra used to have a lovely mountainous garden ( not sure if it is being kept up or not now though )
also Mount Tamborine has a nice botanic garden
