wildlife - friend or foe?

I popped out last night to put a piece of banana out for our possum, heard a bit of a rustle in the wisteria vine, and instead of seeing pos, was confronted (back view) by what I thought was a rat!!!
Yeeks.
But the thing was back tonight same spot, obviously stealing the banana. Front view, it looks rattish, but not. And since we get so little wildlife here now, I'm wondering if there is a SEQ rat-sized marsupial that might be it. It just to seemed a palish colour, bright eyes and whiskers, could not make out tail, or any markings was looking up. Vanished in a twinkling. Of course, it COULD just be a rat. Rats.

Perhaps you could do a search and get a picture of a rat, and compare with your intruder.

If your visitor has a longish snout, then I think it is a native marsupial.

I have found that if I put out any food in the garden, rats seem to arrive.

antichinus!! or at least that's what ours turned out to be.

the key with ours was a furry bit on its tail and no rodent teeth - - the buck tootehd chewing machines that rats and mice (and guinea pigs) have
