RE: Bilpin Plant Collectors' Fair

Hey, Alison, nothing to do with the garden show but don't you love the name of the road? Bells Line of Road??? huh??
I work for company that sub-contracts to Optus (amongst others) for their messaging service and directories and I remember the first time someone told me that road, I thought for sure they had it wrong.
weird, huh?

James Bell discovered this route across the Blue Mountains a few years after the Great Western Highway was put through. It is a line of road because he followed the ridgetops, which were the aboriginal tracks. It would have been named that when he discivered it, and quite possibly exists that way in old maps of the early 1800's.

Pos, even though I've known for many years that Bells Line of Road was named after James Bell, in my mind the mention of the road always makes me think of the beautiful call of the bell birds which inhabit that part of the Blue Mountains. Worth going there just to hear them.

Gee apologies for taking up space

Either my calender was terribly wrong, or you have at least another year to prepare for the next one.
But yes, I loved the road name and thanks to those who contributed

LOL Karen, if only I'd realised when I posted, that the thing had already happened!!!
Never mind if it was a success there will be a third one and people can put it in their diaries.
