I have only a small lawn 30sq Metres which I consider is well look after. I am seriously thing of buying the Flymo Electric mower. Old hand push getting old 30 years not working its best gone past repairs and constant sharpening.

Has any one had/uses these and what is your opinions.

What height does it cut and is it adjustable.

Thanking you in advance

Keith

Hi Keithgh

I had a flymo for over 10 years and it was great. It finally wore out and I have a new electric mower now with a catcher, still with the same principal with the downward air to make it "hover". But after borrowing a motor mower from my son for several months prior to getting the new one I think I made a mistake getting the same kind. I should have got the electic one with the wheels it would have been easier to use now that I am getting older LOL. Parents have an electric one with wheels and mum is 86 and still does her own lawn.

Hope this helps.

Would not bother with a Flymo. Had one once and continually had to replace the impeller.

you might have had rough ground or lots of rocks gh's?

flymo's have a role to play in gardens where people need that sort of application they are only good on well kept grass, and best bit they don't cut as short as other mowers, and do the mulching back into the lawn much better than other mowers do. they are particularly good on very steep ground.

keith, they have a different mowing action you will get used to, the single cutter bar blade needs to be kept sharp and in balance (a bit of a nack but it can be learnt), you are going to need to learn how to take the blade off anyway to adjust the cut height (if they still have that spacer system that is? i have been out of mower mechanic for a long time now).

i never liked the newer catcher models that came in just before i left the industry reckon they made the machine a whole lot heavier and bulkier.

in my day they used the techumseh 2 stroke a good little engine, not sure what they use nowadays? the electrics where reliable but suffered from all that dust down close to the lawn.
