This magnificent plant is about 600mm high and just as wide. It grows well in heavy clay soil (old farm land) with a pH of 6. It is drought and frost hardy, the climate here is subtropical.
Location is 80 km NW of Brisbane.
I think I grew it from seed.
I'd love to find out what it is - thanks!

I think it's Mirabilis jalapa - common name "Four O'clocks" as they are supposed to open late afternoon. There are various colours from white through pink and red and yellows, and you can get speckles and split colours. Faintly scented. They set rather large single seeds, and they form a large underground tuber like a dahlia. Very hardy, sometimes a bit weedy but easy enough to remove surplus plants once you know what they look like.

I have Mirabilis jalapa and it looks the same, only mine does not get bushy like yours. If its tip pruned often it would improve and look like your pic.
