| G'day.
I'm after advice on planning, designing, building and planting a vegetable garden in Canberra. I have a large back yard where the sun sets over the back fence and the house blocks the morning sun. Summer or Winter, the sun tracks across the large expanse of empty back yard. On the north corner there's an Apple tree with two species grafted onto common root stock. On the north-east boundary there's a cherry tree under threat from next door's aggressive grape vine. See the back yard on Google Maps here: http://bit.ly/bua3SL Can someone suggest online resources for site planning (position, sun etc), for a yearly schedule, and ideally if anyone knows, info on setting up a rainwater based auto watering system? Thanks,

| Sorry I missed you. Hope you've found some answers. It's after Melbourne Cup day so your tomatoes should be planted by now. The Canberra Gardener book which has been published seemingly forever and has a revised edition every once in a while is a good resource. Also try to visit the Open Garden scheme gardens, the owners are a wealth of knowledge (not all have veggies but some have veggies, fruit trees, chooks, the works). |
