some ferns

some ferns to show off about - I love the pink new growth of the "fern thingy" in the hanging basket and the new frond on the dicksonia antarctica. the other is an example of the sort of stuff you can save from building sites (if you like that sort of thing)

NO MATTER WHAT iVILLAGE THINKS - my photos are protected by copywrite because they are mine and they are on photobucket and you can not use them unless you pay me.

RE: some ferns

Ferns always have that tropical feel. The one in the hanging basket is probably a native Blechnum of some sort.

Re: yopur copyright statement - yes, the photos are yours, but if anyone decides to take and use them, you will have to take them to court and prove not only that they are yours, but that by using them the other party caused you harm in some way (financial, emotional etc.) You can kiss goodbye to at least $25,000.00 if you decide to take that action, most of which would be made up of solicitors fees, so you would be seriously out of pocket. Also, if iVillage has a statement in regards to posting your photos on their web-site to the effect that you are giving up copyright of you photos, then you do not have copyright. Also, by making such a statement, you may be slandering iVillage, and subject to legal action!

RE: some ferns

robyn6014 - I nolonger put pictures onto the iVillage forums - I put links to a photobucket site.

Photobucket protects my copyright as per their terms and conditions of use.

I will continue to advise iVillage that they don't have permission to use my pictures outside of their forums and as the pictures are located on a web site that protects their copyright, then a third party (iVillage) can't try and over rule photobuckets decision to protect my copyright.

I think the biggest problem will come from tips and hints and recipes as well as our email addresses - so long as the photos are housed on a site such as photobucket that protects our copyright then there is no real chance of iVillage legally using the photos outside of their forums.

RE: some ferns

It would be interesting to see what would happen if someone tried to enforce copyright laws via the internet - if a photo had travelled from country to country there would be a huge legal mess to wade through. Most people don't read the 'agreement' when they subscribe to sites - most agreements would forfeit your copyright and privacy if you subscribe, so proclaiming copyright is pointless. The average person would never be able to defend themselves against breaches of copyright.

I think your middle pic may be Cyathea cooperi, not Dicksonia.
