I could just smack my family sometimes... grrr

I'm having a whinge.
My sister-in-law rang my mum the other day to let her know that my niece is pregnant!!! She is 16 in December!!! Long story but bad blood between sister and law and my family. I haven't seen their 3 kids in 6 years, my mum hasnt seen them for 4 years and the only time they call my mum is when they want something. I was absolutely gob smacked when I found out that my niece had left school last year to work in a supermarket, and hey there's anything wrong with that, I've done it, but for pocket money AFTER SCHOOL!
Well this latest news has me reeling, I am livid. What an absolute sheer waste of life! I don't know, maybe I've got it wrong, I waited until I was 25 to have my darling daughter. But it just seems as if her parents have influenced my niece into believing that this is all she can be... and that is sad.
OK, I've vented now... but still very dissapointed.
Cheers, Mel... |

While I can sympathise, and I would have been pretty upset if any of our 4 daughters had got pregnant at that young age, I don't consider this a waste of a life, and I think such an attitude only adds to belittling the poor girl. A waste of a life is when a lovely, intelligent young man, who is clearly very popular and has given so much of himself to helping others, hangs himself. Almost a year ago now, I lost my nephew. I still ask myself constantly was there anything I could have done to help had we been closer? You still have your neice. Get to know her now while you have the chance. Cheers, Jan |
