Is it feasible to grow Paw Paw fruit in an unheated plastic house in a frost free area just south of Auckland

Carica Pubescens should grow there

We have mountain paw paws growing easily in central Wellington They self seed easily from the fallen fruits and I have to keep weeding out the seedlings. The fruit is not very nice to eat, however - much stronger than a tropical paw paw - but the ornamental effect is pretty. We have one pawpaw over 15 metres high (the winds recently got a couple of others.)

It should be. I've got an old Growing Today mag I got in some packing recently that has an article by Kay Baxter on growing a sub tropical orchard which is very informative. It was the march '97 issue & it's got a picture of a proper tropical pawpaw amongst the fruit. Subtropica sell the proper paw paw trees as well.
