| A few photos I've taken over the past 3 days. I'm in Whakatane, struggling on with the attempt to establish a subtropical garden on the drought-prone and hydrophobic pumice-based soil here.
At least bromeliads are easy in this locale! Anyone else out there that grows them? I've recently bought a variety of pups from Exotica (www.bromeliads.co.nz) and been pleased with their quality. Bought Billbergia 'Muriel Waterman', B. 'Hoelscheriana', Neoregelia 'Cruenta Red' N. 'Stormy Weather', N. ampullacea var. zebrina, N. 'Apricol Beauty'. The Vriesia fosteriana below was one of several Vriesias (and an Alcantarea glazouiana) I purchased at the Ellerlie Flower Show at the end of November.
