which camellia??

| I am looking for an early flowering camellia that has a narrow, dense and upright growth habit.(2m x 1.2m approx) It is to be planted near a copper beech so the soil isn't that flash!
It will be north facing and consequently exposed to the southerly winds - I guess that rules out most whites? I would appreciate your feedback on something suitable - the only colour I am not overly fussed on is mid-pink.
thanks,
tina. |

| Hi there, C sasanqua varieties would be great as they are exceedingly hardy and very beautiful. The have the exact growing habit you want. One of the most beautiful is C. sasanqua Transnokoenensis (spelling might be slightly wrong!)which has small white flowers that are beautifully fragrant. There are many more sasanqua that would be perfect so ask at your local garden centre. Hope this helps... Philippa |

| Don't forget that camellias are very 'clippable' so an annual shear after flowering would make most of them suitable. |
