HELP ! Ebe shrub dying

Posted by Emma_UK (My Page) on

Hello there,
I am NOT in NZ but in the UK but since I need some advice about a plant from NZ I thought this would be the best place to go.
I recently bought an EBE shrub in a pot, which was looking very sweet but now its leaves have all gone brown and they fall off. It looks like it is dying. Anybody out there knows what it could be? Did I water it too much? Does it need more sun? (I have tried to leave it out in the direct sun since it has gone that way).
Thanks a lot for your help,
Emma

RE: HELP ! Ebe shrub dying

My boss is english. just naturalised, so I understand the ebe :-)
The main thing to check is the plant too wet or too dry.
That is the thing that goes wrong with most plants in pots.
If you put lots of fertiliser in the pot that would cause leaf drop too.
Hope this is some help, hopefully someone else will look in, with some advice.

How long has the hebe been in the pot-it may need repotting and I suspect you may have over watered it. Try the repot trick and water only when the top 2cm is dry, it may also benefit from a light trim. Good luck.

RE: HELP ! Ebe shrub dying

Hi all,
Thanks for your help, although the Hebe did die in the end. You are right, I realised I overwatered it.
What a shame !!
Thanks again,
Emma
