Employment in Gardening

I am interested in making a career change into gardening.

Does anyone have suggestions of the best way to approach this. At this stage I would just like hands on experience -similiar to an apprenticeship) - with a view to looking at further study at a later date.

The areas I am particularly interested in are:

Herbs
Vegetables
Market Gardens
Specialist growers eg Lavender

The Wellington area would be preferable.

Look forward to hearing from you.

RE: Employment in Gardening

Megs the best way to get into gardening is trying for a garden centre job, especially at this time of the year.
Also look for the growers in your area and try them, as this is a very busy time they quite often take on xtra staff.
