| Regretfully a nationwide (N.Z.) hardware group is promoting a product which they claim is "weed mat" and which appears to be made by a reputable garden supplies company. ... This is NOT weed mat as we (at least I) believe it should be. This is weed mat SUBSTRATE and must be heavily mulched as it breaks down if exposed to Ultra-violet rays (sunshine). The least gap in the mulch will cause a serious breakdown through which those weedy things will sprout. When approached the store owner claimed that customers are being warned to use a heavy mulch but this was not so in my case and there was no signage stating this (I used decorative stones). ... Okay I may be stupid to have bought such a product - caveat emptor - but you have been warned!! |
